White Revolution 2.0 which has been launched recently, aims in modernising and expanding India’s dairy infrastructure while focusing on sustainability and inclusivity.It aims to

  1. Increase milk procurement: The initiative targets an increase in milk procurement from the current 660 lakh litres per day to 1,000 lakh litres per day within five years.

  3. Modernise infrastructure: The plan includes establishing or enhancing 100,000 cooperative societies, integrating advanced technologies like artificial intelligence for better management and efficiency.

  1. Boosting rural economy: By strengthening cooperatives and increasing milk procurement, White Revolution 2.0 aims to enhance rural livelihoods significantly.
  2. Job creation: The expansion of cooperatives is expected to create job opportunities for an estimated 130 million farmers, thus addressing unemployment in rural areas.
